SK Hynix Reportedly Elevates High Bandwidth Memory Supply Price for Nvidia by 50%+ from Previous Generation
06 Nov 2025 08:25
Memory chip maker SK Hynix raised the price of its sixth-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM4) supplied to AI chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA.US) by over 50% from that of its previous generation HBM3E to US$560, according to BusinessKorea.

SK Hynix delivered the world's first HBM4 12-layer sample to Nvidia in March, the report added. After receiving positive feedback, the Company supplied the first batch of products in June, and began price negotiations with Nvidia.

The product is designed to work with Nvidia's next-generation AI chip, Rubin, scheduled for launch in 2H26. HBM4 features 2,048 data transfer channels, double that of HBM3E, and incorporates logic processes such as computing efficiency and energy management in the base chip connecting the GPU and high bandwidth memory.

SK Hynix needs to outsource the production of the base chip to TSMC (TSM.US) rather than producing it internally.
